Romans 4:16
Therefore it is by Faith, that it might be by Grace;
to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed;
not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham
As is is written, I have made thee a father to many nations, before him who he believed God, who quickeneth  the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Abraham had Faith in God, before Jesus was born, before the Bible was written.  He alone, without the help of others, Believed in God and whatever God told him, Abraham would do.

As you read in Genesis,  God told Abraham that he would have a son, yet Abraham was 100 years old, and he did have a son.  God told Abraham to go up to the mountain and sacrifice his son, he was willing to do it, because he had faith in God.  God stopped him before killing his son and a lamb appeared to  be sacrificed.

Abraham's Faith never wavered.  We are the seed of Abraham, and we have his Blessing upon us.

So whatever God tells you to do.  Do it by faith.

Faith is:
Calleth those things which be not as though they were
