Day 344 If God Tells You To Do Something/ Do It

Day 344

Daily Bible Reading Schedule

Revelation 11-15
Jonah 1-4

The Book of Jonah is only four chapters out of the 16 Bible Prophets with Books named after them, Jonah is the only one who does not do what God tells him to do and he does it twice.

Jonah 1:1-3
God said to Jonah
Arise, go to Nin-e-veh, that great city and cry against it
For their wickness is come up before me
But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord
And went down to Joppa,

Jonah 1:4
But the Lord sent out a great wind into the sea and there was a mighty tempest in the sea
So that the ship was like to be broken

Jonah 1:15-17
So they took Jonah and cast him forth into the sea and the sea ceased from her raging
The Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah.  Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights

Jonah 3:1-2
Arise, go to Nin-e-veh  that great city and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee

The city of Nin-e-veh repented their evil ways and turned toward God.

Jonah was angry that God did not kill all the people.  Jonah wanted to die.

Jonah 4:3
Therefore now, O Lord take I, thee life from me
For it is better for me to die than to live

God did not give up on Jonah.
God will not give up on you

The city repented that God was going to destroy.

God wants to have a relationship with us.

Jonah did not listen to God.  God told him twice, but protected him in the belly of the whale and didn't let him die.

God will do the same for you.
God loves us.  Why don't we love God?
