I don't have my first Bible. I think it was a Revised Standard Version. I switched to NIV back in the 80's. I like that version and have had several NIV Bibles. I finally bought a carrying case that keeps the Bible in better shape and also provides places to put papers that were always ruining the binding when I stuffed too many in there. My mom gave us a Bible that I used for years until I accidentally dropped it in a puddle of water when I was trying to hold the Bible and an umbrella while opening a car door. You know what happens to a book when you get it wet. Had to get a new Bible after that.
